for Prosperous Cities and Regions
One of Four Concurrent Conferences at the 2011 Congress of Cities and Exposition
by Julia Pulidindi and Jim Brooks
Infrastructure Success for
Prosperous Cities and Regions
will be held November 10-12 in
Phoenix as one of four concurrent conferences during NLC’s
annual Congress of Cities and
Exposition.
Programming for this conference will address the need
for investment in the nation’s
water, transportation and technological infrastructure systems
and will take a deeper look at
what exactly regions need now
and how they can plan for the
future.
Workshops and sessions
within the infrastructure conference will help local elected
officials, municipal staff, private sector partners and other
stakeholder groups identify
challenges and determine the
best solutions to improve their
infrastructure.

City of Atlanta residents will soon
have the opportunity to register for
a water and sewer line protection
service that will repair broken or leak-
ing lines. On September 1, Atlanta
Mayor Kasim Reed and Atlanta City
Councilmembers Felicia A. Moore
and Joyce M. Sheperd announced a
new partnership with NLC to offer
a repair warranty program to city
residents. The warranty program is
offered at no cost to the City of
Atlanta and requires no use of public
funding.
