House, Senate Hearings Focus on Local Water
Infrastructure Needs, Financing

Last week, the House
Subcommittee on Water
Resources and Environment
and the Senate Subcommittee
on Water and Wildlife held
concurrent hearings focusing
on local governments’ extraor-
dinary needs to improve the
nation’s water and wastewater
infrastructure and potential
innovative financing tools that
could help close the gap between
needs and expenditures.

NLC’s Service Line Warranty Program Tops 100 Cities

NLC surpassed a significant mile-
stone last month with more than 100
cities now participating in the NLC
Service Line Warranty Program. In just
16 months, more than 1 million house-
holds have gained access to an affordable
homeowner protection plan to save on
the cost of water and sewer line repairs.

Save the Date: Economic Development Webinar to
Focus on Agricultural Incubators

webinar on March 22 at 2:30 p.m.
Eastern time. The webinar will fea-
ture Margaret Brennan-Tonetta, associ-
ate vice president for economic devel-
opment at Rutgers University and
associate director of the New Jersey
Agricultural Experiment Station. Dr.
Brennan-Tonetta will discuss the Food
Innovation Center, a unique business
incubation and economic development
accelerator program, which provides
business and technology expertise to
startup and established food and value-
added agriculture businesses in New
Jersey and the surrounding region.
