accepting applications for the posi-
tion of Director of Public Works.
This is a senior, cabinet-level posi-
tion that directs and administers
the activities of the Public Works
Department. The Public Works
Director shall plan, organize, imple-
ment and supervise the activities of
the department subject to the gener-
al direction of the Mayor and Chief
of Staff/Business Administrator. The
Public Works Director manages all
residential solid waste collection and
disposal activities including recy-
cling and household hazardous waste
programs. The Director is respon-
sible for determining departmental
policies for planning long-term pro-
grams, resolving difficult adminis-
trative problems and managing the
departmental budget. The position
delegates considerable authority for
the performance of technical and
day-to-day administrative activities
to the Bureau Directors within the
Department of Public Works. This
position involves responsibility for
administration, operation, mainte-
